Uduma Appointed 1st Vice-President of ACDE

The African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) has appointed Professor Uduma Oji Uduma, the Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), as the 1st Vice-President of its executive board. This decision was communicated in a letter dated February 17, 2026, signed by Ibrahim Sheme, the Director of Media and Publicity at NOUN.

Professor Solomon Shibairo, the ACDE President, congratulated Uduma on his new role, which includes supporting the president in implementing the council's strategic objectives, representing the council at meetings, and strengthening partnerships within the West African sub-region. Additionally, Olufemi Peters, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of NOUN, has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador for ACDE.

His role will involve promoting the image of ACDE and enhancing visibility and engagement with national governments and international organizations. Shibairo expressed confidence in Uduma's leadership and highlighted the significant contributions of Peters during his tenure.
