New NOUN VC Prof. Uduma Outlines Key Priorities

Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma officially assumed office as the new Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) on October 10, 2025.

During the handover ceremony held at the university's headquarters in Abuja, he identified six priority areas for his administration, which include strengthening study centers, enhancing learner support systems, improving ICT and digital infrastructure, ensuring integrity in examinations, promoting staff welfare, and sustaining quality assurance and accreditation standards. Uduma, who is the sixth Vice Chancellor of NOUN and the first to have previously served as a study center director, emphasized the importance of democratizing access to quality higher education and removing barriers related to geography and gender.

He reaffirmed the university's commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of open distance learning and called for unity across the institution to achieve these goals. His predecessor, Prof.

Olufemi Ayinde Peter, commended the efforts of the university council, senate, and staff during his tenure.
