First Female SUG President of UNICAL Graduates First Class

Bless Alim made history as the first female Student Union Government (SUG) president at the University of Calabar, graduating with a First Class degree during the university's 38th convocation. Admitted in 2020, she funded her studies through menial jobs, including shoemaking and fashion design.

Alim, who served as SUG president for 45,000 students, improved campus transport by introducing five mini buses and established a scholarship scheme that sponsored 50 students. She highlighted the importance of discipline and resilience for Nigerian youth, urging them to resist blaming external factors for setbacks.

Alim also advocated for gender policies and emphasized the need for education, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship. She encouraged students to invest in personal growth and utilize digital platforms for learning and networking.

Alim graduated as the overall sixth-best student and the best in her faculty, receiving an award of N1,000,000 for her achievements.
