University of Calabar to Graduate 10,820 Students

The University of Calabar is set to graduate a total of 10,820 students during its 38th convocation ceremony. This announcement was made by Vice Chancellor Professor Offiong Offiong during a pre-convocation press conference held in Calabar on April 10, 2026.

Among the graduates, 9,173 will receive their first degrees, while 1,495 will be awarded postgraduate diplomas. Notably, 52 students achieved first-class honors, 2,390 graduated with second-class upper division, 5,819 with second-class lower division, 666 with third class, and 246 with pass degrees.

The convocation week will feature various activities, including an inter-denominational service, a research fair, exhibits, a convocation lecture, a command performance, a gala night, and the awarding of honorary PhD degrees. Professor Offiong also cautioned against the negative practices that have historically affected the institution's reputation, emphasizing the university's commitment to addressing these issues.
