UNICAL Dismisses Eight Staff for Examination Misconduct

The University of Calabar has dismissed eight staff members, both teaching and non-teaching, for various offenses, including examination misconduct, absenteeism, and abandonment of duty. This decision was made during the 174th meeting of the university's governing council, as stated by the registrar, Dr.

Icha Chukwuka. Among those dismissed for examination misconduct were Prof.

Emilia Oyira from the Department of Nursing Science, Mr. Ukachukwu Echezunachi and Mr.

Darlington from the Department of Chemical Pathology, Mr. Akinrinad Opayemi Ogunluyi from the Department of Microbiology, and Dr.

Arum Priscilia Nchekwub from the Department of Internal Medicine. Other dismissals included Mr.

Joseph Edet Okon for vandalism, Mr. Eworo Valentin Ibor for falsifying examination results, and Mr.

Emmanuel Adariku for unauthorized fund withdrawal. Additionally, Dr.

Mathia Agba faced a two-year delay in promotion and a 50% salary forfeiture due to negligence related to examination misconduct. The university management reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for unethical practices.
