University Dismisses Professors Over Sexual Abuse Allegations

The University has taken disciplinary action against five staff members, including two professors, for alleged sexual abuse and extortion. The decision was announced by Harrison Madubueze, the university's spokesman, following the 122nd meeting of the governing council held on June 12.

The dismissed individuals include C.C. Nwabachili, a professor and former dean of the Faculty of Law, and Chike Osegbu, a professor in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Other staff members dismissed are H. Iheukwumer, Emeka Nwabunnia from the Department of Microbiology, and Ifeoma Kakulu, the principal assistant registrar of the Faculty of Law's examination unit.

The council emphasized its commitment to disciplinary integrity and accountability, warning that actions tarnishing the university's reputation would face severe consequences. The institution aims to ensure a safe and forward-thinking atmosphere aligned with its vision for the future.
