University of Calabar Suspends Nine Students for Misconduct

The Senate of the University of Calabar has suspended nine students for the entire 2026/2027 academic session due to their involvement in examination misconduct. This decision was communicated to the students through letters signed by the Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha.

The suspension follows recommendations from the university's Examination Misconduct Committee and was officially approved by the Senate. The students affected include five from the Department of Theatre and Media Studies in the Faculty of Arts, while others are from various departments including Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Geology, Pharmacology, and Sociology.

The university has instructed the Acting Chief Security Officer, deans, heads of departments, and other relevant units to ensure compliance with the suspension directive. The suspended students are expected to resume their studies in the 2027/2028 academic session.
