UNICEF, FG Launch GenU 9JA Secretariat for Youth Opportunities

On March 31, UNICEF and the Federal Government of Nigeria officially launched the GenU 9JA Secretariat, aimed at expanding opportunities for youth in Nigeria. This initiative is part of the Generation Unlimited Nigeria (GenU) program, which was introduced in 2021 and has already reached 11 million young people across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The secretariat will serve as a high-level coordination hub to integrate efforts from various stakeholders, including government ministries and the private sector, to support youth skill development, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion. The initiative specifically targets young women and marginalized communities, with an ambitious goal of impacting 20 million youth by 2030.

UNICEF Nigeria will co-lead the effort, providing technical support and expertise to ensure the delivery of meaningful opportunities for Nigeria's growing youth population.
