UNILAG Management Criticizes ASUU Strike, Exams Proceed

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) management has publicly criticized the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, emphasizing that examinations will take place as scheduled. The ASUU UNILAG chapter, led by Chairman Prof. Idou Keind, held a congress on March 10, 2026, where they called for lecturers to withdraw their services due to unpaid consolidated salaries.

Prof. Idou Keind stated that lecturers have not received their full salaries, which has prompted the action. In response, UNILAG's management, represented by Adejok Alaga Ibraheem, noted that ASUU did not follow due process in declaring the industrial action.

Despite the strike, UNILAG is committed to ensuring that examinations proceed, particularly given the critical academic stage for students. The management has assured that necessary arrangements will be made to conduct the exams smoothly, while also appealing to the university community to remain calm and engaged in ongoing discussions with ASUU.
