UNILAG ASUU Suspends Strike, Sets 48-Hour Deadline

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has suspended its strike, which began on Wednesday, following a meeting with university management led by Deputy Vice Chancellor for Development Services, Prof. Foluso Lesi.

The union's decision was reached during a congress later that afternoon. ASUU had directed its members to withdraw services as a protest against unpaid salaries for January and February 2026.

The union accused the university management of failing to pay earned academic allowances and provide necessary documentation regarding salary structures as per the 2025 agreement with the federal government. Prof.

The decision to suspend the strike was made to avoid disrupting ongoing examinations, with the union emphasizing that students should not suffer due to the dispute.
