UNIJOS Lecturers Strike Over Unpaid March 2026 Salaries

Lecturers at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) have embarked on an indefinite strike starting April 8, 2026, due to the non-payment of their salaries for March 2026. Professor Jurb Molwu, the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at UNIJOS, confirmed this development in an interview.

The union expressed disappointment over the delay in salary payments and attributed the issue to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. A statement circulated among the lecturers requested members to abstain from conducting examinations and statutory meetings until their salaries are paid.

The union emphasized the need for compliance with the strike directives and announced that a monitoring team would ensure adherence to the strike. The ASUU UNIJOS urged its members to remain patient but indicated that the delay has caused frustration and harm to industrial harmony.
