UNILAG and University of Birmingham Partnership Strengthens Global Surgery and Student Research

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Birmingham have established a long-term strategic partnership to tackle global public health challenges, with a focus on enhancing surgical safety and strengthening their global university rankings. The partnership, described as a strategic alliance, aims to address pressing global health issues, especially in the area of global surgery, to reduce the high risks associated with surgical care worldwide.

Over the past decade, the collaboration has evolved into a robust platform for knowledge exchange, joint research, and capacity building, benefiting students, academics, and health systems in both countries. The partnership also aims to enhance the visibility and reputation of both institutions globally.

UNILAG and the University of Birmingham are actively engaged in multiple research collaborations within Nigeria, including initiatives to address brain drain and health sector challenges.
