UNILAG and University of Dundee Launch First Joint LLM Program

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Dundee, United Kingdom, have inaugurated the first-ever joint Master of Laws (LLM) program. This initiative seeks to elevate legal education by offering students the opportunity to earn an LLM degree through a structured transnational study arrangement.

The program allows students to commence their studies at UNILAG in Nigeria, complete the first six months of coursework, and then proceed to the University of Dundee for the final six months in the UK. Upon meeting academic requirements, graduates receive separate LLM certificates from each institution.

The launch event, held at the British Council in Ikoyi, Lagos, was attended by key figures including Prof. Folashade Ogunsola, Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, and Prof.

Nigel Seaton, Interim Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee. The joint LLM program is seen as a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two universities, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive legal education that integrates perspectives from both the global South and North.
