Union Bank Advocates for Climate Action Collaboration

Union Bank emphasized the need for stronger collaboration on climate action and environmental sustainability during the 2026 World Environment Day symposium held at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos. The event, hosted in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), brought together environmental experts, corporate leaders, policymakers, and students to discuss practical solutions for climate change, biodiversity conservation, and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Olufunmilola Aluko, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer of Union Bank, stated that businesses must move beyond mere commitments and embed sustainability into their operations and investment decisions.

She highlighted the unique responsibility of financial institutions to support the transition to a greener economy, noting that decisions made by these institutions significantly influence the pace of the transition to a low-carbon economy. Union Bank recognizes that sustainable development and environmental responsibility are interconnected and believes that businesses play a crucial role in shaping the economy.
