UNIOSUN Secures Full Accreditation for Medical Graduates

Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has achieved full accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to graduate medical students. This accreditation was confirmed during a visit by the council's registrar, Prof.

Fatimah Kyari, who was accompanied by Deputy Registrar Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma.

Governor Ademola Adeleke praised this development, highlighting the university's progress in attaining higher academic standards. The governor's spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, noted that the accreditation process took place within seven years, emphasizing the governor's provision of necessary equipment and support for the medical college.

Dr. Nwakanma acknowledged the challenges faced in securing this accreditation, which had not been granted since the university's establishment in 1963.

The governor expressed his commitment to improving the working environment for medical professionals in Nigeria to combat the trend of brain drain. Additionally, the establishment of the Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital in Osogbo was mentioned as part of ongoing efforts to enhance medical education in the state.
