UNILORIN Addresses Rumors on Medical Graduands Induction
The University of Ilorin has officially dismissed rumors about the induction of 44 medical graduands who completed their studies last year. Prof. Biodun Suleiman Alabi, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, clarified that the induction will not occur alongside the current MBBS program graduates.
In total, 194 students sat for the final MBBS examination, with 175 passing outright and 19 needing to re-sit. The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has approved a quota of 150 for induction, and the university had previously inducted 170 students in November of the previous year.
Although the federal government has announced a doubling of the admission quota for medical students, this has yet to be implemented. The university assures that the 25 students who passed and the 19 who need to re-sit will be inducted at a later date.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewol, emphasized the management's commitment to ensuring the induction of the remaining students soon.
