U.S. Sanctions Eight Nigerians Linked to Boko Haram

On February 10, the United States Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions against eight Nigerians due to their connections with Boko Haram and the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant. This action is part of a broader effort to combat terrorism financing and protect religious freedoms.

Among those sanctioned is Salih Yusuf Adamu, born August 23, 1990, who was previously convicted in the UAE for attempting to fund Boko Haram. Babestan Oluwol Ademulero, born March 4, 1953, and known by several aliases, is also included in the sanctions.

Other notable individuals are Abu Musab Al Barnawi, Khale Khalid Al Barnawi, and Abu Bakr Ibn Muhammad Ibn Ali Al Mainuki, all linked to Boko Haram activities. Nnamdi Orson Benson, born March 21, 1987, is noted for cybercrime-related offenses.

The sanctions involve asset freezes and visa bans, reflecting the U.S. commitment to counter-terrorism efforts.
