Unity Schools Alumni Protest FGC Kano Land Concession

Alumni from various Unity Schools mobilized for a nationwide protest against the Federal Government College Kano's (FGC Kano) land concession to Pluck Global Services, following unsuccessful negotiations with the Ministry of Education led by Dr. Tunji Alausa.

The concession involves 30 hectares of land originally designated for sports facilities and agricultural science projects. Alumni, represented by the United Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), voiced concerns that this move threatens the future of the school and vowed to resist the concession.

The protest attracted representatives from 40 Unity Schools nationwide, with participants carrying placards stating "FGC Kano Not for Sale." Alumni leader John Duru expressed disappointment over the Ministry's insistence on proceeding with the arrangement. The Ministry defended the concession as part of a broader infrastructure revitalization program, but USOSA leaders argued that no feasible studies justified the land cession.

They demanded the immediate cancellation of the concession agreement, warning of a nationwide shutdown of Unity Schools if their demands are not met within 14 days.
