UNIUYO Joins ASUU Strike, Lectures Suspended, Campuses Deserted

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has suspended lectures and joined a national strike initiated by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The decision has led to deserted campuses, empty lecture halls, and disappointed students who express concerns over the disruption of academic activities.

ASUU emphasizes the strike is to press for improved funding for public universities and better welfare for lecturers. Professor Olajide Opeyemi, the ASUU UNIUYO chapter chairman, urges the government to act swiftly to prevent a prolonged shutdown of academic activities.
