University of Lagos Graduate Julia Tanimojo Celebrates Degree

Julia Tanimojo, a pharmacy graduate from the University of Lagos, completed her undergraduate degree in August 2026 after an extended eight-year journey on campus. Initially gaining admission in 2018, her academic timeline was significantly disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and repeated strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which delayed her graduation from the expected 2023/2024 convocation list to the 2025/2026 list.

In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Julia expressed her feelings about finally completing her studies, emphasizing that the delays allowed her to grow, explore new opportunities, and develop a strong sense of self. She created a digital version of the traditional shirt-signing moment, inviting well-wishers to leave messages online.

Julia acknowledged God and those who supported her throughout her journey, celebrating her perseverance through challenges. She humorously noted her plans to catch up on eight years' worth of sleep following her graduation.
