UNNO Health Group Launches Aesthetic Medicine Institute

The UNNO Health Group launched an institute in Abuja over the weekend to enhance training in aesthetic medicine in Nigeria. Hilda Titiloy, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of UNNO Health Group, stated that the institute aims to provide postgraduate training and establish professional standards within the rapidly growing aesthetic medicine industry.

The initiative seeks to create an ecosystem for aesthetic medicine, focusing on service delivery, manufacturing of medical products, and professional education. It aims to reduce medical tourism by enabling Nigerians to access aesthetic procedures locally.

Perpetua Ibekwe, a professor of medicine at the University of Abuja, emphasized the need for a dedicated regulatory framework for aesthetic medicine in Nigeria to address overlaps among practitioners with varying qualifications. Gboyega Olarinoy highlighted the importance of defining beauty standards tailored to African realities rather than relying solely on Eurocentric models.

Georg Chabtini noted the significant growth of aesthetic clinics in Nigeria over the past three years.
