Mbappe Shines with Two Goals in El Clasico Victory

In the first El Clasico of the 2026/27 season, Kylian Mbappe scored two goals, helping Real Madrid secure a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou. Mbappe opened the scoring in the first half for Real Madrid, managed by Jose Mourinho.

Barcelona equalized through Raphinha in the second half, but Mbappe netted the decisive goal in the 88th minute, ensuring all three points for the visitors. This match took place just one day before the 2026 Ballon d'Or award ceremony in London, where both Mbappe and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal are among the leading nominees.

Although voting for the award had already closed, Mbappe's performance has positively influenced public sentiment, with him now holding a 17.4% chance of winning, compared to Yamal's 11.3%. Harry Kane, Mbappe, and Yamal are considered the top contenders for the award.

Thibaut Courtois praised both players, backing Mbappe despite Real Madrid's lack of team success last season.
