IGP Disu Submits State Police Framework to Senate

On Thursday, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, submitted a comprehensive 75-page framework to the Senate for the establishment of state police in Nigeria. This submission is part of efforts to decentralize policing in the country.

The framework was presented to Barau Jibrin, the chairman of the Senate committee tasked with reviewing the 1999 Constitution. The document outlines the proposed operational modalities for state police and is expected to significantly contribute to ongoing discussions regarding national security architecture.
