Gas Tanker Collision in Lagos Causes Fire, Two Dead

On Saturday, an early morning collision between a gas tanker and a tipper truck along the Lekki-Epe Expressway near Sangotedo resulted in a significant fire, claiming two lives and destroying several properties. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, which occurred around 2:36 AM.

The collision involved a 20-ton tipper truck that rammed into the rear of a 30-ton gas tanker, leading to a fire that spread to three adjacent warehouses and ten roadside shops, including a gym and general house. The fire threatened a fully loaded petrol filling station containing 33,000 liters of petrol.

The agency's director of public affairs, Amodu Shakiru, reported that efforts were made to extinguish the fire and evacuate the area. The tipper truck driver was identified as a male adult who was burnt beyond recognition, while the gas tanker driver escaped unhurt.

Normalcy has since returned to the accident scene.
