Tinubu's N10bn Ebola Fund Lauded by UPTH CMD

Prof. Chituru Orluwen, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a N10 billion fund aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola in Nigeria. This approval comes in light of recent Ebola cases reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, raising concerns about the potential spread of the virus to other African countries.

Orluwen made these remarks during the UPTH management retreat focused on strategic planning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He emphasized that the action taken by President Tinubu demonstrates the administration's prioritization of healthcare and the necessity for proactive measures in public health.

Orluwen expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Chief of Army Staff for the opportunity to serve and highlighted that UPTH has been a beacon of tertiary healthcare in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria, despite facing challenges such as infrastructural deficits and funding constraints.
