US Begins Review of Green Cards from 19 'Countries of Concern' After Capitol Attack

The US government, under the Trump administration, has initiated a review of the immigration status of permanent resident green card holders from 19 'countries of concern,' including Afghanistan, following the Capitol attack. The suspect in the recent shooting incident in Washington D.C. was identified as a 29-year-old Afghan national who had previously served alongside American forces in Afghanistan.

The review, led by Joseph Edlow, Director of USCIS, aims to reexamine every green card issued to individuals from these countries, particularly in the wake of the Taliban takeover in 2021.
