US-Israeli Strikes Destroy Tehran Synagogue, Report Says

Early on Tuesday, a synagogue in Tehran, Iran, was reportedly "completely destroyed" by US-Israeli strikes, as per preliminary information from Shargh Newspaper. The synagogue, referred to as Rafi Nia, held importance for the Jewish community in Iran, which is recognized as a minor religion in the country.

Although the Jewish population has significantly decreased since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, with many members fleeing, it is estimated that a few thousand Jewish people remain in Iran. The synagogue was particularly noted as a gathering place for the Khorasan Jews, who celebrate their traditions in this northeastern province of Iran.

The report highlights the legal recognition of Judaism in Iran, alongside Sunni Islam, Zoroastrianism, and Christianity, which are represented in the parliament.
