US Lawmaker Accuses Nigeria of Enabling Christian Attacks

Kimberli Daniel, a member of the Florida House of Representatives and chairwoman of the United World Congress, has released a scathing assessment accusing elements within Nigeria's security architecture of enabling attacks on Christian communities. Her report specifically highlights the escalation of violence in Nigeria's north-central and northwest regions, where worshippers faced targeted assaults during Easter celebrations in April 2026.

Daniel pointed out that the attacks, which occurred during Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday services, suggest a coordinated pattern rather than random violence. She expressed concern over the gap between the government's rhetoric and the reality on the ground, citing testimonies from survivors who feel completely vulnerable.

Daniel emphasized the need for public trust in the state's ability to provide safety and called for thorough internal reforms in Nigeria's security leadership. She urged the international community, particularly the United States, to apply diplomatic pressure to address the urgent situation regarding religious freedom in Nigeria.
