US Lawmaker Praises Nigeria's State Police Bill Passage

US Congressman Riley Moore reacted positively to the Nigeria's House of Representatives' approval of a bill that seeks to empower the 36 states to establish their own police forces alongside the national police force. This legislation, which received support from 289 lawmakers with only one member voting against it, represents a significant step toward addressing insecurity and alleged persecution of Christians across Nigeria.

The bill has already passed its second reading in the Senate, with at least 24 state houses of assembly having signed similar laws. President Bola Tinubu has expressed support for the bill, which Moore described as an important policy development.

He urged further investigation into the genocide against Christians in Nigeria and called for greater responsibility for state governments in ensuring the safety of their citizens. Moore expressed optimism about the bill's passage in the National Assembly and acknowledged the hard work required for state police forces to become operational.
