US Mint Launches $1 Coins Featuring Trump for Anniversary

On Wednesday, the United States Mint released 250,000 $1 coins featuring the likeness of President Donald Trump to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. These coins, which are legal tender, have entered circulation and may be received as change during cash transactions.

The design includes a portrait of Trump created by United States Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, inspired by an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok. The reverse side features the Presidential Seal and inscriptions honoring the Semiquincentennial.

The coins have a gold-like finish and are made from non-precious metals, minted in Philadelphia. They are available for purchase in rolls of 25 for $61 and bags of 100 for $154.50, with some special-issue coins marked “July 4th” included.

Due to high demand, a virtual waiting room was established, and households were initially limited to two orders. The release follows a change in federal law allowing living presidents to be depicted on currency, facilitated by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020.
