US Secret Service Investigates Shooting at Dinner Event

The United States Secret Service has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that took place during the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. The shooting occurred near a security screening area close to the main magnetometer checkpoint.

The agency is collaborating with the Metropolitan Police Department to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed that individuals, including the President and First Lady, were safe following the incident.

A suspect has been taken into custody, and authorities are continuing to assess the conditions involved. Guglielmi stated that the team on the ground is actively investigating and gathering information, with updates to be provided as they become available.
