Rev. Bless Amalambu Advocates Music for Peacebuilding

Rev. Bless Amalambu, representing Gener Ministries, called on governments globally to leverage music as a complementary instrument for peacebuilding and crime prevention during the 2026 World Music Day on June 21.

He acknowledged that while music cannot replace security agencies, it possesses significant power to transform minds, discourage criminal behavior, and promote national unity. Amalambu made these remarks in light of the rising insecurity, including kidnappings and violent crimes, which necessitate effective security operations and intelligence gathering.

He described music as a universal language that transcends ethnic, religious, and cultural boundaries, fostering understanding and coexistence. Amalambu praised the contributions of legendary Nigerian musicians, including the late Sunny Okosun and Fela Kuti, for their socially conscious music that inspires hope and justice.

He urged musicians to produce songs that promote hard work and peace rather than glorifying violence and crime, and called for collaboration among musicians, media, and cultural institutions to sustain public enlightenment campaigns against insecurity.
