Eight Killed in Farmers-Herders Clash in Kebbi State

A violent clash in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, resulted in the deaths of eight individuals. The incident reportedly began when a farmer was allegedly stabbed to death by a Fulani herder while working on his farmland.

This led to a retaliatory attack by members of the farming community, who allegedly stormed a nearby Fulani settlement, resulting in multiple casualties. The violence occurred around 3 PM, and the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that eight lives were lost during the incident, with four others injured.

The injured individuals were rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment. Bashir Usman, the spokesman for the Kebbi State Police Command, stated that security operations were initiated to bring the situation under control.

He urged residents to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, advising the public to channel grievances through appropriate authorities instead of resorting to violence.
