JAMB Disburses N1.5 Billion for 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the payment of N1,570,671,200 to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers as registration charges for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This payment was disclosed in a bulletin signed by JAMB's public advisor, Fabian Benjamin.

The UTME is scheduled to take place nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026. JAMB noted that it collects a registration charge of N700 on behalf of the CBT centers, which is remitted directly to accredited centers on a weekly basis.

The board has introduced measures to prevent exploitation of candidates, including a cashless registration process and a policy ensuring that payments made to CBT centers are verified against the board's registration system. JAMB aims to increase its revenue from N4 billion in 2025 to N6 billion by 2026, while also creating 1,000 examination centers nationwide, up from fewer than 800 in 2025.
