Uzodimma Triumphs Over Okorocha in APC Primary Election

Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, secured victory in the Imo West senatorial district primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeating former governor Rochas Okorocha. Uzodimma received 230,464 votes, while Okorocha garnered only 1,098 votes.

The primary election was conducted on a Monday and covered 12 local government areas within the Orlu Zone. Rear Admiral William Kayode (retd), who announced the results, confirmed that the voting took place across 305 wards in the local government areas.

The process saw several aspirants, including those from Imo North and Imo East, step down to support Uzodimma, which was encouraged by party leaders to ensure a smoother election process. The APC expressed gratitude to security agents and party members who volunteered to ensure the primary's smooth conduct.

The results are pending final announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
