Vandal Found Dead Under Collapsed Transmission Tower

On Saturday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that a suspected vandal was found dead beneath a collapsed 330kV transmission tower in Delta. This discovery was made during an intensive line patrol by TCN's Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department, which was prompted by the tripping of the Ughelli-Benin transmission line due to an earth fault.

The patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed, revealing the corpse of the suspected vandal crushed between the tower members. Further inspection indicated that Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli-Sapele 330kV transmission line had also suffered significant vandalism but remained standing at the time of the report.

TCN condemned the act of vandalism, emphasizing the dangers associated with tampering with power infrastructure, which not only leads to power outages and damage to national assets but also endangers lives. The company called on host communities and the public to report suspicious activities around power installations to security agencies and TCN offices.
