Iwuamadi, speaking at a sensitization program in Benin's Umelu community, highlighted vandalism as a major cause of power disruptions. The rise in vandalism poses a threat to the national grid and has surged from 10% to 30% in recent years.

Illegal structures near transmission lines are a common sight, with Iwuamadi warning of the health risks and dangers they pose. He emphasized the need for cooperation from residents to protect the grid and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

While commending Umelu community for their peaceful cooperation, he urged residents to continue supporting efforts to combat vandalism and safeguard the power infrastructure.
