Omenugha Defends Dismissals of Lecturers at Ojukwu Varsity

Prof. Kate Omenugha, the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Awka, Anambra State, addressed the media regarding her decision to sack five senior lecturers from various departments for offenses including sexual harassment and dereliction of duty.

During a press conference, she stated that the allegations against her were false and intended to undermine her authority. Omenugha highlighted the need to protect students from sexual misconduct, referencing past incidents where students were victimized.

She asserted that her administration would not tolerate such behavior and that the sacked lecturers should not be vilified for their actions. Additionally, Dr.

Harrison Madubuez, the university's public relations officer, accompanied her during the conference, where they discussed ongoing projects and future plans for the institution. Omenugha confirmed that a committee had been established to handle appeals from the dismissed lecturers, allowing them a chance to prove their innocence against the allegations.
