VC Warns Prospective Students, Parents Against Admission Scams

Former acting vice chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Lar Patricia Manko, cautioned prospective students and parents about admission scams. Manko, speaking at a hybrid sensitization program in Abuja, emphasized the university's transparent and merit-based admission process.

The event, led by the director of the Academic Planning Unit, Wesley Daniel, aimed to educate candidates on the admission procedures and clarify any doubts. The university's Development Office director, Professor Olanrewaju Aladeitan, highlighted cases of students falling victim to fraudulent admission schemes last year.

In response, Professor Patricia Mangola established a committee to investigate and prevent such incidents. The university reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards admission racketeering and urged candidates to follow official processes based on merit.

The program sought to ensure that prospective students and parents understand the legitimate admission requirements and avoid falling prey to scammers.
