VeryDarkMan Defends NBA Conference Appearance in Video

Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, addressed backlash regarding his appearance at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference themed “Be Your Limit” through a satirical video posted on Instagram. In the three-and-a-half-minute clip, he dressed as a lawyer, complete with a wig and gown, and staged a mock courtroom scene.

The controversy arose as many legal professionals questioned the invitation of a non-lawyer to speak at the conference. VeryDarkMan defended his participation by emphasizing his advocacy work and experience related to insecurity.

He humorously claimed to have been “called to bar” and asserted his qualifications to address the topic discussed at the conference. He also jokingly rebranded the conference theme to “Non-gun man,” referencing his previous commentary on insecurity.

The video featured two men as his “learned friends,” and included comedic exchanges that highlighted his critique of the criticism he faced.
