NBA Awards VeryDarkMan for Insights on Insecurity

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presented a recognition award to social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, at its 2026 Annual General Conference held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday. Otse participated as a panellist, discussing insecurity and media inadequacies in reporting violence.

The award was presented by the moderator on behalf of the NBA president, who expressed appreciation for Otse's presence and contributions. Otse clarified that he was not there to teach legal matters but to share personal experiences regarding insecurity in Nigeria.

He criticized the media for insufficient coverage of violent incidents, citing the kidnapping of a judge and the June 13, 2025, attack in Yelwata, Benue State, which resulted in over 200 deaths. Otse emphasized the need for better media engagement on such critical issues, stating that he had witnessed the aftermath of violent attacks firsthand.
