Vestergaard Launches Production of 10M Mosquito Nets in Nigeria

The Minister for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, announced that Health Textiles Nigeria Free Zone Enterprise (FZE), a manufacturing facility owned by Swiss-based Vestergaard, has commenced production of mosquito nets. The facility aims to produce 10 million nets annually and employ over 600 Nigerians, with about 80 Nigerians already recruited and undergoing training in manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory compliance.

This facility is the first in Nigeria to manufacture dual active-ingredient insecticide-treated mosquito nets, specifically PermaNet Dual, which has been prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO). Oduwole emphasized the importance of job creation in the free zones ecosystem and discussed ongoing tax reforms aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Nigeria’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

The meeting included various stakeholders, such as Sen John Owan Enoh and CG Adeniyi Bashir, highlighting the government's commitment to aligning fiscal policies with the needs of the SEZs.
