Barcelona Targets Victor Osimhen After Alvarez Deal Fails

Barcelona has shifted its focus to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following a failed attempt to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. The Atletico Madrid board unanimously decided to halt negotiations with Barcelona regarding Alvarez, citing ethical and professional concerns.

Consequently, Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, is now prioritizing Osimhen, who has made a strong start to the season with Galatasaray, scoring five goals in two Super Lig matches. Osimhen, a former Napoli forward, was signed by Galatasaray in a club-record deal worth €75 million and previously finished as the league's top scorer with 26 goals in 37 appearances two seasons ago.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed the club's interest in Osimhen, who has expressed a desire to compete in top European competitions. Although Galatasaray has stated they are unwilling to part with Osimhen, the increasing interest from clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham may challenge this stance as the transfer window approaches its deadline.
