Victor Osimhen Injured, Returns to Nigeria for Recovery

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian international striker, returned to Nigeria following an injury sustained during the first half of Galatasaray's 4-0 defeat against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at Anfield on Wednesday. Osimhen collided with Liverpool's central defender Ibrahima Konaté early in the match, resulting in a diagnosis of a fractured right forearm.

According to the Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Osimhen's arm is currently in a cast, and he will wait for the swelling to reduce before a decision on surgery is made. If surgery is necessary, he is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks, which means he will miss important Super Lig fixtures against Trabzonspor, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği.

Additionally, Osimhen will notably be absent from the Super Eagles squad for upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey. Prior to his injury, he had made significant contributions to the season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists.
