Amaechi Threatens to Leave Coalition Over Obi's Favoritism

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi threatened to leave the opposition coalition over concerns regarding favoritism towards Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate. Abdullahi made these claims during an interview with Symfoni TV on Thursday, amidst ongoing discussions about internal power dynamics within the coalition in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

According to Abdullahi, Amaechi approached the ADC's national chairman expressing dissatisfaction with what he perceived as preferential treatment for Obi. Despite these tensions, Abdullahi dismissed suggestions that Obi was marginalized within the coalition, asserting that the former Anambra State governor holds significant influence within the party's structure.

Abdullahi also revealed that Osita Chidoka is reportedly working to secure a role for Obi within the alliance, indicating efforts to integrate Obi's camp into the coalition's decision-making processes.
