Rivers State Nominee Charity Deemua Explains Tax Issues

During a session at the Rivers State House of Assembly, commissioner nominee Charity Deemua addressed questions regarding her tax clearance certificate, which appeared outdated. When questioned by Speaker Martin Amaewhul, Deemua explained that she has not been employed in a steady job in recent years, which contributed to her inability to pay taxes.

She mentioned her previous brief service in a local government caretaker committee but did not clarify her employment history in detail. As Amaewhul pressed her further on whether she earned income during the period in question, Deemua admitted to not having a steady source of income.

She apologized for the situation and suggested that she would address the issue. The session highlighted concerns regarding her tax status as part of the nomination process.
