El-Rufai Faces Money Laundering Trial in Kaduna Court

On Tuesday morning, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for his money laundering trial. The trial is based on allegations of corrupt practices, with charges filed under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has accused El-Rufai of multiple counts, including the conversion and possession of public property and money laundering, as well as abuse of office and fraud intended to confer undue advantage. The arraignment is scheduled to take place on March 24, 2026.

Security measures were heightened around the court premises, with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps deployed strategically to manage the situation. This increased security affected vehicular movement in the area, causing traffic congestion.

The trial marks the beginning of a significant legal battle for the former governor.
