El-Rufai Faces ICPC in Court Amid Supporter Rally

Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, faced the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in court regarding allegations of money laundering. His court appearance took place in Kaduna, where a significant number of supporters gathered at the court premises.

This arraignment occurred amidst rising pressure from various stakeholders, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following his detention and arrest upon returning to Nigeria from Egypt. During the proceedings, El-Rufai reportedly declined to answer questions posed by the ICPC, invoking his right to remain silent.

He has also filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit in the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging a search of his residence and an ICPC remand order that was issued on February 19.
