Kunle Afolayan Seeks Government Support for KAP Village

Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has invested over N8 billion of his personal funds into KAP Village, a film resort, and is calling for government support due to the financial strain caused by the lack of electricity. During an interview with former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun on the Nidacity podcast, Afolayan revealed that the resort has been operating on diesel since its inception, which has become increasingly unsustainable due to rising costs.

He has spent approximately N200 million on a renewable energy project, but it is insufficient to power the entire facility. Afolayan argues that his significant investment warrants assistance from government agencies, especially since other establishments with lesser investments have received grants.

He also mentioned the need to expand accommodation facilities at KAP Village, citing challenges faced during the production of his film "Anikulapo," where cast members struggled to find suitable lodging.
