PDP to Produce Nigeria's Next President, Says Makinde

During the 103rd National Executive Committee meeting of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) held in Abuja, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde asserted that the PDP is prepared to reclaim power at the national level and will produce Nigeria's next president in the 2027 general elections. Makinde emphasized the party's readiness to also produce members for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions.

The meeting ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee headed by Tanimu Turaki, SAN, following a motion moved by Edo State PDP Chairman Toni Aziegbemi and seconded by ex-officio member Clement Fagboyede. Other committee members include Taofeek Arapaja, Daniel Ambros, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Adebayo Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.

This development follows a Supreme Court ruling that invalidated the national convention of the PDP held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025, which has deepened the leadership crisis within Nigeria's main opposition party ahead of the upcoming elections.
